In Japan, there is a government organization called the Supernatural Disaster Countermeasures Division (SDCD) whose job it is to safeguard civilians against invisible animals. They are able to eliminate these beasts quickly and without arousing public concern. However, they are suddenly confronted with a new challenge: the treachery of one of their own. Kagura Tsuchimiya has been fostered by the Isayama family since her mother's death some years ago, and she has formed a strong sister-like attachment with their daughter Yomi. The two become intertwined, and they operate as highly adept exorcists for the SDCD as a team. However, when the stress and implications of their holy duty weigh on both of them, and family politics enter the picture, Kagura and Yomi start to drift apart.
