An angel has come in Hell! A demon lord has awakened! There are penguins all over the place! What precisely is going on in this situation? Flonne, an aspiring angel assassin, is on a mission to eliminate the demon Overlord. Flonne, instead of accomplishing her duty, awakens Laharl, the demon ruler and heir to the realm, from his two-year hibernation. The pair, together with Laharl's disloyal servant Etna and her army of explosive souls disguised as penguins, are now tasked with restoring order to the dissolving Netherworld. Based on the events of the game Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, Makai Senki Disgaea recalls Laharl's fight to destroy the demon insurrection, reclaim the kingdom, and slaughter anybody who stands in his path. Or, you know, let them accompany him on his vacations if they want to.
